Orange County Coastkeeper will host a beach cleanup event in Huntington Beach to celebrate World Oceans Day, an international invitation to honor the ocean and commit to its improvement. For two hours, volunteers will fill reusable bags and buckets with litter found across the sand. In tandem with the cleanup event, Coastkeeper launches a “$1 for Clean Oceans” fundraiser to help offset the costs of running this program.
Beach cleanups are a hands-on way for people to get involved with their environment. As opposed to other sustainable life choices, cleaning up litter provides instant satisfaction, a direct impact on Orange County’s environment and instills responsible trash disposal behavior in volunteers. World Oceans Day encourages people from around the globe show love for oceans and their importance to human and wildlife health.
