If you are a travel buff and want to live vicariously through a woman who walked across three of Ireland’s westernmost peninsulas, then mark your calendar for a fascinating presentation on Friday, September 9. Led by historian and resident Jenny Rose, the discussion begins at 7 p.m. in the City Council Chamber.
An avid hiker, Jenny will share her photographic exhibition now installed in the Mission Viejo Library along with her experiences of walking through a region that is rich in Irish culture and tradition, with stone monuments and sacred springs dating back thousands of years. Both the Dingle and Iveragh peninsulas contain official Gaeltacht, or ‘Irish-speaking’ districts. Jenny’s presentation will showcase the landscapes and local culture of these still remote regions along with highlights of other adventures.
This free presentation takes place at 200 Civic Center. For more information, call 470-8440.

There’s no cost to participate for businesses, which can provide updates whenever they want and be included in future versions.
To help people keep their finger on the pulse of Mission Viejo, the “MV Life” app will feature the latest community news and sports information, events, activities as well as shopping and dining. Before the app launches in November, the City is asking businesses geared toward shopping and dining to submit their information.
It’s official … five candidates are vying for two open Mission Viejo City Council seats in November. The deadline to file papers for office ended last week.
